AOS in 2016

AOS in 2016

Postby WOM » Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:09 am

A few friends and I are wanting to expand our AOS (Warhammer) group. We are generally loose players but always talk about escalation, or campaign play. Regardless of your faction (older or new) GW has provided skirmish rules for these vast armys that have taken years to collect and paint. We see no reason to not enjoy playing with the models we love. All of us have been in a situation where we had great gaming ambition and no one to play. Kind of always been that way in WHFB. Regardless of how long it will last, we are extending a olive branch to the ones that want a group to play with, or combine existing groups. If you're interested please leave a reply.

Thank you
Will

Do you have a link to the army construction? The games we played felt like a arms race when placing out forces. The rules are different but playable, just wondering how you handle balance.

We've been using minimum numbers of models per warscrolls. Also allowing a certain number of key words. Example: 3 hero's 2 monster, chariot, or war machine. One point is, we've been playing it broken to get a better feel of how not to. I know the people I play with are open to suggestions on how to run a league with more players and different styles of armys fairly.
What are your thoughts?

Have you seen the points system some people came up with?

Take a look.

I took a look. Seems pretty fair. That's a lot of work, but if that is what everybody would agree on then I'm in. I do think in a campaign setting, a point system is less relevant. we've been playing around with a mighty empires rule set where territory gives you key words and warscrolls. I like the idea of points if that keeps everyone active.

If anyone is looking to play, we have a group that meets every couple of weeks. Just post or message me here.

Does your group still meet? It doesn't seem like many people are keen on AoS, but it looks like could be fun, and I'd like to see a game or maybe try my hand.

I will be living in St. Louis starting in March. The closest game store to me will be rarity games on kingsway.
Willing to give AOS another try.
Also found this for my needed balance factor.

Cool. I'm anxious to give it a try. I haven't played in a couple editions, and an attempt at a slow grow league in 7th failed. I actually think AoS LOOKS interesting, but mostly I just want an excuse to finish various elves. Or aelfs, I guess.

There will be an AOS event at DieCon 2016 June 10-12. It's a sponsored event with prices.

What are your thoughts:

Pull choice system?

Type of terrain?

Special requests?

Leaving the discussion open, but need to get some details submitted.

Thanks

The release of The General's Handbook has jumpstarted AoS around here, though the community is still scattered. We've got a FB that we're trying to grow so there's a central place to find games and look for local events (which there are already several this month). Check it out here.

But would love to watch a few games and talk shop...
